About our Founder
Hello! My name is Elizabeth Habib, and I am the founder and CEO of Toucan Play. My vision for Toucan Play stems from a career in business and marketing in the toy industry and specialty retail, a long-standing commitment to providing high-quality products and excellent customer service to the people of Trinidad and Tobago, and my own personal experience as a mother of three. I am passionate about every step of the process, from meeting with international toy suppliers, to delivering your order right to your door. Mission
Toucan Play’s mission is to educate and inspire children in Trinidad and Tobago. We offer an international selection of premium, branded, educational products that foster creativity and confidence all at affordable prices.
Toucan Play is also committed to strengthening the relationships children have with one another, as well as the adults in their lives. We offer products that promote positive interactions between children and their parents at home. Our teacher resources and learning aids foster productive interactions between children and educators at school. Finally, our developmental, sensory, and socio-emotional toys are ideal for therapists working with children with special needs.
History

Toucan Play evolved out of my original business venture, The Knowledge Zone. In 1999, I realized that there was no single retail destination for specialty children’s toys and games in Trinidad and Tobago, and I decided to create a one-stop shop for premium toys, games, books, puzzles, and boutique items, all focused on fostering creativity and education. After almost two decades, the Knowledge Zone had grown into a household name in Trinidad, with five retail locations in major shopping malls.
I also realized that the products I was offering were both wanted and needed across all of Trinidad. It is my hope that Toucan Play’s online direct-to-customer business model ensures that our products are accessible to children, parents, and teachers from all corners of Trinidad and Tobago.
